5 Trends that will affect how recruiting will be done in the future.

Personal Thoughts: Don’t run away from artificial intelligence, run to it.

In this article, I’ll share 5 major trends I see happening in the world of recruitment so you can stay ahead of the game.

The Gig-economy

The gig-economy exploded when covid hit.

Two things happened: Companies realized they don’t need to pay full time employment salary to get a job done, AND people realized, they don’t need a full time job to live the life they want to live.

Personally, I work with a ton of gig-workers for specific jobs.

Things like:

  • Research

  • Graphics

  • Finances (bookkeeping)

  • Accountant (taxes)

  • Data collection

Remote Work

Remote work was once the holy grail of benefits 👑

Then when covid hit, it became the norm.

Now, it seems like the sentiment has shifted back into pushing for on-site employees.

In my opinion, this will shift back into a remote economy within the next 5 years.

Why?

  • Flatter organizations = Less people needed with a greater emphasis on technology, which will again open the world to remote workers.

  • Cost = Office space, supplies, even the time it takes for employees to drive to work all costs money. This cost to a business can easily be avoided without a huge office space investment.

  • Better candidate pool = The best candidates on the planet can still demand where and how they work, which is most often then not… remote.

The bigger challenge for companies is the need to improve how they interview, as well as monitor their remote workers workforce.

But remote work isn’t going anywhere 🏖️

Personally, I believe artificial intelligence will eliminate a LOT of jobs.

Some believe it will add jobs…

But I feel the overall total number of jobs humans can do vs an AI will decrease over the next 10 years.

Candidate Experience

To say the current candidate experience is terrible, would be an understatement.

The candidate experience has slowly become a focal point over the last few years, which has led to an explosion of tech products being built to streamline the recruitment process.

Tools like Chatbots powered by AI, such as Mya, can provide instant responses to candidate inquiries, improving engagement and communication.

Leveraging technology, especially when it comes to the experience of your candidate can differentiate your firm, improve candidate satisfaction, improve your brand and deliver the winning candidate at a higher clip 📈

Predictive Hiring

With the AI boom, it’s only a matter of time before the minority report effect starts to happen.

Years ago we saw shift in data 📊

Moving from a reports-driven mentality, to actually creating predictive models to spot trends before they happen to guide business decisions - the same innovation will occur in recruiting.

By analyzing the data of prior hires, a predictive model can forecast the success of a candidate within a certain company/team before even talking to the them.

Tools like IBM Watson Talent offers solutions that can predict which candidates are more likely to succeed in a role, helping firms optimize their hiring and lower their cost per hire.

We’re still a ways away from predictive hiring, but this will be a thing.
