13. What I wish I knew...
4 lessons I learned the hard way.
Personal Thoughts: Create solutions that scale.
In this email, I’m going to share 4 shortcuts I wish I knew before starting my recruiting business to help you launch yours.
MPC. Maximize your candidates.
It’s all in the messaging. Hook ←→ offer.
Close. Just do it.
Payment. Cash is (always) king.
Master the MPC.

The reason people recommend niching down your recruiting vertical is because you’ll maximizing your assets.
When getting started, you have no pipeline of candidates.
So, most often your first couple pipelines are going to be based around the first couple of job orders you get.
By narrowing your targeting market, you’re able to maximize each candidate you source because you’ll be able to MPC candidates to prospects hiring for that exact role.
MPC = Most Placeable Candidate
This is when you market a to a prospects you know is hiring for a similar position - use a job board to find this information.
Example: If you’re recruiting for an electrical engineer in Dallas, chances are there are other companies in Dallas looking for a similar electrical engineer.

Messaging is 🔑

To survive in the recruiting game today, I’m pretty convinced you’re going to have to master automation and cold messaging.
The best piece of advice I can share is to try things.
You don’t know if something works (or doesn’t work) until you test.
Here’s a snapshot of two campaigns I’m running right now:
Campaign 1:

Campaign 2:

The major difference in the two campaigns is the offering.
Campaign 2’s offering is much stronger and actually guarantees a result or the prospect pays nothing.
There are four elements in any message:
Subject Line
Hook
Body
Call to Action
Write out your sequences as soon as possible for both LinkedIn and Email.
LinkedIn (helpful hints):
Less than 200 characters.
Be concise, don’t try and hit a home-run, just connect.
Get right into your message, don’t add fluff.
Email (helpful hints):
Keep your subject line to two words or less.
Don’t have a “?” mark in your subject line.
The offering is the most important part, make it irresistible.
Outside of your offering, your first line is the most important (preview text). Don’t start with the word “I”.
Try to use 50 words or less.

Fill Jobs 💌

One of the biggest challenges you’ll face is filling hot business at scale (hence why I believe in automation so much 😃).

Payment 🤑

Cash flow is KING 👑
Cash flow is also an ongoing battle for ANY business.
One of the best operational changes we made was adjusting our direct hire placement terms from one large lump sum, to dividing payment into III equal payments over 3 months.
Example: Fee (of placement) $24,000
Day 30 - $8,000 due
Day 60 - $8,000 due
Day 90 - $8,000 due
The same amount is due, but you’ve now created cash flow for three months instead of one.
Stack a couple placements on top of each other, and you’ll be happy you did.
